How Hand-Tied & LA Weave Extensions Are Applied
Hand-tied weft extensions involve sewing wefts of hair onto small sections of your natural hair, which are tied with thread to create a base.
For LA Weave Hair Extensions, a series of microbeads are placed in a straight line along with your hair, close to the scalp. Each one is spaced a few millimetres apart. They’re applied by threading a small section of hair through a small bead, which is then squished with pliers to hold it in place. Once these are applied, the weft of hair is sewn in.
Regular maintenance appointments are essential for both hand-tied and LA Weave extensions, typically every 6-8 weeks, to adjust the extensions as your natural hair grows. Proper care includes gentle brushing, avoiding excessive heat styling, and using sulphate-free shampoos and conditioners to maintain the health and longevity of both the extensions and your natural hair.
How Hand-Tied & LA Weave Extensions Are Removed
Your Image stylist will locate the wefts sewn onto the foundation (tracks) in your hair or they will locate the microbeads that secure the wefts to your natural hair. Using small scissors or a seam ripper, we will carefully cut the thread that holds the hand-tied wefts in place. This step requires precision to avoid cutting or damaging your natural hair. For LA Weave Hair Extensions, we will use pliers to gently squeeze the beads to open them. This loosens the hold on the natural hair and allows the wefts to be freed.
Once the thread is cut or the beads are opened, the wefts can be gently removed from the hair. We will slowly pull the wefts away from your natural hair, ensuring that no strands are pulled or damaged. After the wefts are removed, we will slide the opened beads off your natural hair. This is done carefully to avoid any hair breakage or damage.
After the removal of either hand-tied or LA Weave extensions, it’s important to take care of your natural hair. This can include deep conditioning treatments to restore moisture and strength, as well as regular trims to remove any split ends and maintain the health of your hair. Proper aftercare helps ensure your hair remains healthy and ready for future extension applications if desired.
